SPRING 2016 Conference: Collin College - CPCThe NTWCA Spring Conference was held at Collin College, Central Park Campus in McKinney, TX, on April 29, 2016 and hosted by the Center for Academic Assistance.
The winner of the Mary Nell Kivikko Excellence in Scholarship Award was Haley Mowdy, of Texas Woman's University, who presented on "Pioneering Community Advocacy: Write Now and the Future of Writing Center-Sponsored Service". Haley Mowdy won the Albert Schweitzer fellowship for her program “Write Now,” a low-cost pop-up writing center program for students at Denton High School. This year's Outstanding Tutor Award went to Jenna Lawrence from Dallas Baptist University. She was involved in many associations and organizations as well as an excellent Writing Consultant of the highest caliber. |

The conference began with registration and various presentations from its attendees. Lunch was served followed by the election of the new officers currently in position. After the votes, the presentations began for the awarded tutors, Haley Mowdy and Jenna Lawrence. The closing remarks began, followed by a tour of the Collin College Central Park Campus Health Sciences Building.
