The NTWCA Spring 2014 conference was hosted at Dallas Baptist University on April 11, 2014.
The winner of the Mary Nell Kivikko Excellence in Scholarship Award was Carolyn Hoy, of Dallas Baptist University, who presented on "Room for Rest and Reform." This year's Outstanding Tutor Award went to Carrie Hamilton also from Dallas Baptist.
The tutor presentations were made by Texas Woman's University's Elizabeth Brownlow, who presented on "Bang for Your Buck: Maximizing the Writing Center Budget," and Caitlin Perry, of Dallas Baptist, on "Cultural Appreciation in the Writing Center: Building a Framework for Understanding."
Fall 2014 Conference: University of Texas at Arlington
The NTWCA Fall 2014 conference was hosted at the University of Texas at Arlington on October 17, 2014.
The keynote presentation this session was made by Jackie Grutsch McKinney, of Ball State University, whose presentation was on "Writing Center Grand Narratives and Peripheral Visions."
Our other tutor presentations this semester were made by Abigail Manuel, of Collin College, who gave her presentation on "Creative Writing MAs Wanted: Writers & Their Role in the Gaming Industry," and our own Daniel Heffner, of the University of Texas at Dallas, titled "Taking Tutor Training Online."
